When we think of a refrigerator, the most common one is a stand-up fridge that is either just a refrigerator or combination refrigerator and freezer. There are, however, other types of fridges such as under-counter ones. It is hard to say whether they are “as good.” They are just different.

Sometimes people want an under-counter fridge to provide extra space or space for a special designated purpose. So, for example, one may want an under-counter fridge in a bar area for drinks or other bar needs. The under-counter fridge is typically a space-saving choice.

The advantage of the under-counter fridge is that it doesn’t take up precious counter space, and the small dimensions make them easy to put in different places. However, if you want under-counter fridges to replace the stand-up fridge, you would need several of them to give you the cubic feet of a stand-up fridge.

There are also fridge drawers available that are sometimes installed in gourmet kitchens. These can be very convenient for chilling dough or keeping your fruits and vegetables in one place.

As long as the under-counter fridge is manufactured by a reputable brand, the fridge should be just as reliable as a traditional fridge. One is not better than the other; they are just different. For a gourmet cook, the more fridge space that is available, the better.

In addition to under-counter fridges, there are also similar under-counter freezers and freezer drawers available. These all add extra cold space using a minimum of kitchen real estate.
