Color
We are definitely seeing more colour. Stainless steel appliances are still the most common, but we are seeing more and more black appliances, which always did look good, and other custom-coloured appliances.
For small appliances we are seeing brighter colours like red and blue to punctuate otherwise neutral kitchen spaces.
Built-Ins
Built-in appliances are coming back, and we are seeing lots of them. These are appliances that do not appear to stand alone but are integrated into cabinetry to give a built-in look.
Rear or Extra Kitchens
There is a new trend to have an extra “rear” kitchen or scullery. So, lots of clients who have the room have some extra or double appliances in an extra room, to keep the main kitchen cleaner and quieter for guests. As we seem to like open-concept homes, some great cooks are realizing that it is nice to have some quiet space to really do some cooking away from everyone else.
Induction Cooktops
Induction cooktops are becoming more and more popular. They have the distinct advantage of both heating what is in your pot faster and shutting down faster than a traditional cook surface. The one disadvantage is not all pots and pans can be used on them.
