The Best Time and Options for Changing Kitchen Appliances

If you are wanting to change some of your appliances, you may be wondering when is the best time to do that. That answer to that is question depends on a number of factors. And that is what we will talk about in today’s blog article.

Design

The first consideration is an aesthetic one. If you want a certain look or several matching appliances, then you may prefer to change several appliances at one time. If you are doing a kitchen renovation, that is particularly good time to change appliances and purchase several at the same time.

Designs change over time. So, if you buy a dishwasher today, and a new double oven in two years from now, they may not look exactly the same.

Need

The next consideration is need. If you have an appliance that is not working, like a dishwasher, then you may not want to wait until you start your renovation in six months to get a new one. You may prefer to get the new one right now.

Fit

In the case of the dishwasher mentioned above, fit is not a big issue because dishwashers come in a standard width, with slightly smaller apartment-size ones also available. The point here is that if you change the dishwasher now, it will also fit into your kitchen after a reno.

However, this is not the case with all appliances. Refrigerators, for example, come in lots of sizes with differing heights, widths, and depths. What fits in your kitchen now, may not be the size you want after a reno.

Budget

The last consideration is budget. You may want to wait for sales to pick up some appliances at great prices. The only problem here is that storing appliances for years while waiting for a renovation, can mean the appliance’s warranty is over before you ever use it.

So form, function, and timing will all play roles in deciding when to buy one or more new appliances.
